Michelle has 10 years of professional experience in residential design.
She studied at the University of Oregon, where she received a B.I.Arch in Interior Architecture. There she completed 11 rigorous design studios augmented by specialized interior design courses in building construction, material finishes, lighting design, color theory, sustainability, architectural history, + design theory. She also spent a semester studying in Kyoto, Japan which informs her design sense to this day.
Post graduation she has worked on a mix of residential and hospitality projects in New York and Connecticut as a project manager for several boutique architecture and interiors firms, most recently at Alexandra Angle Interior Design in NYC and Peter Talbot Architects in Washington, CT. Michelle and her family reside in Litchfield County, CT where she continues to practice interior design throughout northwest Connecticut and the Hudson Valley.
Having a clear, well appointed home is just plain good for your emotional and physical health. What that looks like is different for each person and the unique architecture in which they find themselves. Michelle approaches every new project with this in mind and without pre-conceptions. She tailors each room for its occupants with a creative and bespoke approach.
Sensible layout, classic details, & quality workmanship are key to making and keeping a space functional and long lasting. To make such a house, Michelle engages with artisans, builders, and vendors known for the integrity of their work and wares. She loves to connect her clients with the right people to conjure well made, ideal spaces.
Building a new house or redesigning an apartment is serious work… but don’t forget to live a little! Michelle is always looking for creative ways to infuse a project with color, pattern, and texture. The right mix of these elements can make a room sing.
